Student Spotlight: Marci Wishnick
Meet Marci who is a current Pastry graduate and Culinary Arts student with Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy. We hope you enjoy hearing her story!
Escoffier has been an amazing experience for me and I am so happy I still have the culinary program to finish up so I can stay connected with all of you!
For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for cooking and baking. I remember cooking with my dad as a young girl and hearing him tell stories of my grandmother making these wonderful meals that he still raves about and misses dearly. He definitely sparked my interest in the culinary field.
I didn’t think of making a career out of this until a few years ago when I just felt like something was missing in my life. I wasn’t passionate about my career and I had such a strong need to be creative in the kitchen. I would constantly bring in my sweet creations to work for my coworkers, which they loved and would place orders for. Every holiday I spend with my family I bring desserts and savory dishes, I love every minute of it! Food brings people together and it means the world to me when I can bring a smile to someone’s face with something I made out of love for them.
I constantly searched for an online culinary school due to time constraints working full time and when I saw an ad for Escoffier it was like I hit the lottery! Josh Meyer called me and told me about the program and I was hooked! The main concern about culinary school for most people is the price and Escoffier brings the convenience of doing this at your own pace plus offers affordable payment plans. It’s a win-win situation. Add in top-notch chefs, mentors, technical support and students that become wonderful friends and you get a truly wonderful experience and an exceptional culinary education.
My advice to fellow students would be to remember this is not a race. Everyone will go at their own pace at their own time. Do the best you can and don’t rush yourself; take your time and give this program your all. Your portfolio is going to show future employers all of your hard work – so show them what you’re made of.
Now that I have graduated, I have thoughts of being an instructor and a personal chef. These are goals of mine, but my real dream is to open up my own café’ one day! You really can make your dreams come true with Escoffier Online Culinary Academy!
