Online Classes Provides High School Students with a Head Start in Professional Culinary Education

Online Classes Provide Students with Top Level Training and Assist Teachers with Easy to Track Student Progress

CHICAGO, IL (March 26, 2014) – Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy, the first-ever online culinary school, is excited to be partnering with high schools such as Valdez High School in Valdez, Alaska to provide innovative educational content to students interested in culinary and pastry arts.

The only thing a school needs to get started is internet access. Once the program is in place, students and teachers have access to chef-designed programs that cover the building blocks of culinary and pastry arts education, teaching classical fundamentals alongside contemporary trends and techniques. Courses are comprised of a series of interactive learning modules featuring richly detailed video tutorials. Each module concludes with an assessment that includes self-evaluation and grading by a professional chef. Throughout the learning process, students are supported by executive chef mentors, are provided with additional synchronous chef-led weekly webinars, engage in weekly live Google+Hangouts, and become part of an active online student community. With 24×7 access to lessons, skills and recipe databases students can continuously work on perfecting techniques and share ideas, tips, and questions with fellow classmates in an inviting, collaborative online environment.

“Escoffier provides professional content and student assessments while teachers lead the courses and track student progress utilizing the technology built into the online programming. This partnership represents a new learning module in vocational education, said,” Jeff Larson, Vice President of Admissions for Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy. “In addition to the coursework we are using with Valdez High School, we are able to customize courses to fit the needs of each participating school.”

To aid high school students who want to pursue their culinary passion, Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy is providing $500 scholarships to current high school students who enroll in the full Culinary Fundamentals or Baking and Pastry programs.

Tuition for both the Culinary Fundamentals and Baking and Pastry programs are less than $4,000 each with a new series of short-focused classes such as “Baking and Decorating Cakes” and “Classic Cooking Methods” for $269. Students who spend 5-10 hours per week on average will complete the Culinary Arts program in about four to six months and the Pastry Arts program in three to four months. All graduates are “Escoffier Certified”.
