Blue Bottle Coffee Has Dreams Of Expansion

Blue Bottle Coffee, the preferred roasters of Silicon Valley’s tech community, has just raised $25.75 million in fundraising according to reports from Re/Code. Investors include such industry heavyweights as Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, Twitter co-founder Evan Williams and Google’s venture capital arm, Google Ventures. This latest cash flow comes after raising almost $20 million in October of 2012. Totaling over $45 million over the last two years, Blue Bottle is planning on using the money for some major expansion.

The premium coffee company currently operates 11 cafes in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City, though eight more leases are lined up for cities such as Palo Alto and Los Angeles. These cafes are known for their painstaking attention to detail and veritable artistry when it comes to brewing a cup of coffee. Blue Bottle also hopes to open a research and development facility as well as release a retail line of bottled iced coffee. With all these expansion plans in the works, there is a good chance you may soon be able to get your hands on some of the artisanal coffee yourself.
