If you’re attending cooking school online, you might be excited to hear about this year’s annual food festivals happening in New York. Rachel Ray and Bobby Flay are just two of the big names on the organization’s list of over a hundred celebrity chefs and personalities that will be making appearances during the eighth annual New York City Wine and Food Festival.

What is it?
From Thursday Oct. 16 through Sunday Oct 19, you can find intimate dinners, walk around tastings, cooking lessons, seminars, demos and parties all over the city’s restaurants, hotels and event facilities. The Wine and Food Festival is just one way the food industry of New York is fighting the end hunger. The Food Network, the event’s host, has been collaborating with No Kid Hunger and Food Bank for New York City for years, the Wine and Food festival’s website explained. With events ranging from $20 to full packages for over$2,000, New York City residents and visitors of any kind can enjoy the food, fun and festivities to do their part to help the cause. Check out the Chicken Coupe fried chicken tasting event hosted by Whoopi Goldberg on the 16th and definitely stop by the World’s Best Bloody Mary Brunch on the 18th.

Getting antsy?
Can’t wait that long? Another event aiming to end hunger is New York’s biggest pizza party, Slice Out Hunger. On Oct. 8 you can sample any or all of the 42 different New York pizzerias for just a dollar a slice. The event is put on completely by volunteers with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to Food Bank for New York City. Pay a buck, get a slice, end hunger.

If you’re not so hungry but still want to help, beef up your resume by volunteering for either of these events!
