Each year, Food and Wine Magazine runs a “People’s Best New Chef” competition that honors top individuals in several culinary fields who have completed an education at international cooking schools. For those who are more interested in baking & pastry arts, the “People’s Best New Pastry Chef” nominees have just been announced.

“We are so pleased to be turning to our loyal readers and pastry devotees for their help in selecting the People’s Best New Pastry Chef,” said Dana Cowin, editor in chief of Food and Wine Magazine. “The amount of talent out there is staggering, I can’t wait to honor the men and women behind the most brilliant desserts.”

The list of up-and-coming chefs nominated for the award consists of 50 individuals hailing from the east, west and central regions of the country. To be deemed eligible, nominees must have only been running a restaurant pastry kitchen for no more than five years. If you are enrolled in online pastry courses, this could be you in just a few years!

Voting will be open through 5 pm EDT on April 8, and the winner will be announced on www.foodandwine.com on April 9. He or she will also be featured in the July issue of the magazine, which is available on newsstands on June 14.
