Father’s Day Dinner Ideas
Father’s Day is coming up soon, and while a new tie or power tool is a nice gesture, your dad will really appreciate a delicious meal. If you are taking courses from an online culinary arts institute, this holiday is a fantastic chance to share what you’ve learned. Here are some ideas that are sure to please the guest of honor and the rest of the family alike.
Fire up the grill
Cooking out in the backyard is a great way to celebrate Father’s Day, especially if the weather cooperates. The family can gather around the grill with their favorite beverages while your dad takes it easy. A row of perfectly seared steaks makes an excellent choice for the occasion, and the Food Network provided directions for a whiskey-glazed flat iron steak that will leave everyone satisfied.
The marinade consists of your dad’s preferred whiskey, brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic and olive oil. After about 20 minutes of soaking in this liquid, the meat will be ready for the grill. Boil the marinade for two or three minutes so it can serve as a glaze. Then, brush the sauce on as you grill the steaks for three to four minutes on each side over medium-high heat.
Bring out the bold flavors
Even if it rains, you can still provide a big, crowd-pleasing tastes that draw everyone to the kitchen. Delish suggested a Santa Fe chicken skillet that’s packed with melted cheese and plenty of spice.
This Tex-Mex-inspired dish calls for preparing boneless and skinless chicken breasts with taco seasoning (you can buy a packet at the store or make your own with ingredients like chili powder, paprika and cumin), cayenne pepper and salt. Cook the breasts in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about six minutes on either side.
Once the meat is cooked, remove it from the skillet and throw in onion, garlic and red pepper. After five minutes, bring the heat down to low and place the chicken back in the pan. Add black beans and shredded cheddar and cover. Allow the cheese to melt, and then top the dish off with a touch of cilantro before serving.
Finish with a great dessert
For a truly memorable Father’s Day meal, you also want a seasonally appropriate treat the family can share. If your dad appreciates fresh fruit flavors, Real Simple recommended a blueberry tart.
Begin by rolling a frozen sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle on a floured work surface. Then, set the dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Create a border around the pastry’s edge by using a knife tip. Brush egg onto the outer area and add granulated sugar. Then, bake the pastry in an oven set to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 to 22 minutes, waiting for it to puff up.
Score the border again and press down the center of the pastry. While it cools, create a mixture of smoothed cream cheese, lemon zest and confectioner’s sugar. Spread this over the center of the pastry and then top it with blueberries.
