Brown Butter Cake Recipe:
makes 1 -10” square or 1 -9” rounds

12 ounces butter
1 ¾ cups sugar
3 eggs
2 egg yolks
2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 ¼ cups milk

1. Melt the butter in a pan over medium low heat, after the butter foams the milk solids will start to brown and have a nutty aroma, pour the butter into a bowl and put in an ice bath, scraping down the sides until the butter is set. Sift together the dry ingredients
2. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, add the eggs and then alternate the milk and dry ingredients
3. Pour into a greased pan and bake at 350 degrees until springs back when touch or a tooth pick inserted comes out clean, about 40 minutes or less time for the 9” pans since there is less mix. This batter also makes very nice cupcakes
4. Cool for about 20 minutes and dust with powdered sugar and decorate with blackberry, plums and oranges
