Student Spotlight: Kendra Huebner
Meet Kendra who is a recent Culinary graduate with Escoffier Online Culinary Academy. We hope you enjoy hearing her story!
I started cooking when I was probably 7 or 8, things like french toast. I then cooked every Wednesday night for my parents as a teenager and in between that time frame my Grandmother taught me a lot, such as, how to bake things from scratch, how to cook chicken, rabbit, and even cakes. I have always just thrown things together to make my own creations and even created a marinade that we inject in our turkey each year at Thanksgiving before frying. I love to cook and have always loved to garnish and make things fancy.
3 years ago I bought The Lampstand, a coffee shop/restaurant and we even sell Christian Books and Gifts as well. I also do catering. I wanted to better myself and my business so I joined Escoffier Online. I loved the idea of culinary school online, since attending a school physically is impossible for me at this time because I have a business to run and two side jobs. When I found Escoffier Online, Josh called me with details and we worked out a payment plan. AND VIOLA….I’m a certified chef…lol…it wasn’t really that easy but some hard work and dedication proved to be very rewarding! I am now doing the Pastry program and am enjoying it just as much or more! I would recommend (and have) anyone who is interested in a culinary education to attend Escoffier Online. It is convenient, very rewarding, and you are never alone. The chef mentors are always available to help. I plan to continue my restaurant, and keep trying new things with my education from Escoffier and who knows what the future holds. My Grandfather always told me to get as much education as you can because that is something no one can ever take from you!
