Have you ever wondered how many hands and surfaces your produce has touched before it ends up in your kitchen? For this reason cleaning your produce is essential to prevent food contamination and protect your health. To ensure you are being safe in the kitchen, make sure to wash any fruits and vegetables before preparing them for your meals; this is the best way to get rid of bacteria that might be present.  Wash your hands with soap and warm water before moving onto washing your vegetables. Then, proceed to gently rub the produce under running water. When moving from the sink to the the prepping area make sure that all surfaces have been sterilized. Finally, remove unwanted leaves or peel the vegetable to get the produce ready for cooking. Watch Chef Thomas as he shares his cleaning tips .
