Baking With Nutella

Why stick with just peanut butter when you have cocoa and hazelnut at your disposal?

Why stick with just peanut butter when you have cocoa and hazelnut at your disposal?

World Nutella Day isn’t until February, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t start celebrating early. The beloved Italian hazelnut cocoa spread has become a staple in the baking & pastry arts since its inception in the 1960s, with endless ways to incorporate it into your baked goods. When you’re craving something a little more indulgent than chocolate itself, try one of these delectable hazelnut desserts:

Candied Bacon S’mores
Bacon, marshmallow, Nutella: those are the main food groups, right? As long as you’re not on a low-sugar or low-fat diet, these s’mores are probably all that you could ever ask for. They take the classic campfire s’more and enhance it – like a gourmet s’more – by  consisting substituting Biscoff cookies for graham crackers and Nutella instead of pieces of a chocolate bar.

Nutella Banana Bread
Banana bread is one of those foods that are hard to mess up. Even bad banana bread is still pretty darn good. So imagine how heavenly exceptional banana bread can be? Experience it for yourself with this Nutella banana bread. While some may consider chocolate chip banana bread the ultimate way to enjoy a loaf, using a spread instead of chips is a great way to offset the classic problem of having all of your chocolate chips sink to the bottom.

Nutella Tarts
These Nutella tarts are anything but. Perfectly marrying salty and sweet, they’re pleasing to the eye and would make a great addition to the dessert table at a party. The crust is simple to make, with flour, ground almonds, salt, butter and egg. All of the guests at the party will be so impressed with these adorable tarts.

Pretzel Brownies
Speaking of sweet and salty combinations, pretzel brownies bring those two flavors together as well. Made with a salty pretzel crust, these brownies have a crunch that will have you wondering why you’ve never thought to make this recipe before. You can leave out some extra Nutella to frost the brownies, or just eat it with a spoon.

Chocolate Cheesecake Bars
Can’t decide if you want something creamy or cake-like? Opt for these cheesecake bars. Made with a crunchy chocolate crust, a layer of cheesecake, and topped with a fluffy Nutella cream, these decadent bars will have everyone asking you for the recipe.

French Toast Roll Ups
While these roll ups can be made with any ingredients that you’d like, why wouldn’t you make them with Nutella? These are so simple to make for dessert or breakfast. All you need is bread, eggs, milk, cinnamon sugar, butter, and your favorite fruits and toppings to roll up inside.

Nutella Cream Puffs
Is there a person out there who doesn’t like cream puffs? They’re sweet and fluffy, and light enough to pop one in your mouth after another. This recipe for Nutella Cream Puffs adds a little twist to the classic pastry, using premade puff pastry and a mixture of Nutella and whipped cream, topped with bananas.
