What are the academic requirements?
We do not require SAT or ACT. However we encourage applicants to take the SAT or ACT. Some culinary scholarships require SAT/ACT scores.
Is coursework in a culinary arts vocational program required for admission?
No. Approximately 50 percent of our students come from career/vocational school programs and 50 percent come from traditional academic programs.
Is work experience required?
No, although some experience in the hospitality industry is preferred. A love of cooking is required. We suggest that you schedule a day in class with us or spend a day shadowing a chef in a restaurant if you have not worked in a commercial kitchen before.
What do the programs do for me?
Our programs are fundamental and basic training programs that teach you the foundational skills and techniques you need to be successful in a professional or home kitchen
How much do the programs cost?
Each program is $3,995. Payment plans are available.
What is the approximate food cost for the programs?
Over the duration of the programs food costs total about $200.
Do you have financial aid?
For those who qualify we offer interest free financing options.
How long are the programs?
Our program is self-paced. You have 12 months from time of enrollment to complete.
How much time do I need to spend on the program(s)?
Our program is self-paced; if you spend 5 – 10 hours per week, you will be done in 4 – 6 months or 3 – 4 months for baking and pastry
Are the programs accredited?
Our programs are not accredited but we are endorsed by many prestigious affiliates within the food service industry. For a current list of endorsements please click here.
How are my skills evaluated?
Your chef mentor will evaluate you based on visual assessment. He or she will ask you to take photos of the various stages of your prepping, cooking, and plating.
What about tasting the food I prepare?
Generally, you will be tasting your food as well as your family, friends, etc. Your chef mentor will guide you on flavor mastery.
What do I receive when I complete the program(s)?
A certificate and an Escoffier e-portfolio of your work.
