Escoffier Online is a work training program designed to train students for an industry position.
Hi, my name’s Josh Meyer. I’m the Director of Admissions with Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy. One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is ‘is your program accredited?’ And, right now, our program is not accredited. However, we do have many prestigious affiliations within the culinary industry, including the Chicago chapter of the American Culinary Federation, the Escoffier Foundation and Museum in East France, as well as the American Personal and Private Chef Association. There are some others, and you can check them all out at our website at www.escoffieronline.com.
Now, one thing to note with our programs being certificate programs: we do not take transfer credits from other programs, and our program is not a credit-based program. So, it is a work training program designed to train you for an industry position as an entry-level line cook or prep cook.
Students that graduate from our Certificate in Baking and Pastry program will graduate with a Certificate in Baking and Pastry Arts. All other programs do not receive certificates upon completion.
To become a student at Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy we do not require a SAT or ACT score. All of our programs are for enthusiasts, careerists and professionals. There is no culinary or pastry experience required upon enrollment. Those with experience are suitable for both programs as well.

Certificate in Baking and Pastry Program:
Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy accepts new students daily upon completion of a phone interview with an Admissions Representative or can enroll directly online. Students must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to enroll or parental permission must be received. One is only required to have a GED, high school or college diploma in order to enroll into the Certificate in Baking & Pastry program.
Applies only for the Certificate in Baking and Pastry Program: One of the most popular questions we receive is, “how are assessments critiqued if a chef instructor is unable to taste the food?” You will taste your own food. The curriculum will guide you through developing your own flavor palate, one of the most important tools a chef needs. If you are opposed to tasting your cooking assessments, friends and family can critique and give you feedback for when you fill out your self-assessment for the assignment.
Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts Program:
The Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts program’s food cost will total approximately $1000 over the 13 month program. That equals about an extra $75 per month in food cost.
And remember, all food being bought will be used for cooking assessments and certainly will not go to waste. There will be no need to buy lavish ingredients. All ingredients needed for the programs can be found at a local grocery store. However, if a student is unable to find certain ingredients they can speak with a chef instructor to help substitute that ingredient with something more accessible.
Many students prepare their assessments for their breakfast, lunch or dinner. We recommend involving your friends and family as much as possible so you can get extra feedback about your assessment while also ensuring no food goes to waste!
Our programs range from fundamental to professional training programs that teach students the foundational skills and techniques needed to be successful in a professional or home kitchen. Escoffier Online is wonderful for enthusiasts and professionals looking to learn new skills or enhance on their current skill set.
The Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts program offers a more detailed curriculum centered on essential techniques and skills as well as business and entrepreneurial knowledge for the student that wants to pursue business ownership within the industry.
For those that might be unsure about a career, online learning with Escoffier Online is a great way test the waters rather than attending an onsite campus that can be more time-consuming, expensive and require you to be temporarily unemployed.
Is Coursework In A Culinary Arts Vocational Program Required For Admission?
No. Approximately 50 percent of our students come from career/vocational school programs and 50 percent come from traditional academic programs. There is no requirement to submit any previous course work, portfolios or any work related to a student’s previous academic or vocational experience.
No, although some experience in the hospitality industry is preferred. However, a love of cooking is definitely required! We suggest that you schedule a virtual tour or spend a day shadowing a chef in a restaurant if you have not worked in a professional culinary setting before.
If you don’t have work experience, Escoffier Online helps students build a strong skill set and gain many qualities throughout the program that employers look for when hiring.
The Certificate in Baking and Pastry program has a Career Services department to assist with job or externship search as well as teaches many helpful skills for acquiring employment in the industry. From resume writing to interview preparation, the Career Services department gives you a constructive helping hand through every process of your search. Collectively, with the Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy training and career placement service, our graduates can be prepared to hit the ground running in a new position upon the completion of the program.
Once a student subscribes for the Culinary Arts Fundamentals, Baking & Pastry Fundamentals, Healthy Baking and Contemporary Dessert Presentation Courses they will receive immediate access to the student portal and will be able to log in and start their course work. Once inside the student portal students will be able to interact with other students in the program using Escoffier Online’s social engagement. They also have access to recipe and skills databases, glossaries and course material.
For the Certificate in Baking and Pastry program students will receive immediate access to orientation and the student campus, however, students will have certain start dates on when they will begin classes.

Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts Program
The Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts program has been found to require a minimum of 15 hours per week over the set 13 month period. Failure to commit this much time will most likely lead to you falling behind and the inability to finish the program.
There is also a mandatory 150 hour externship in the last block that is required for graduation. The externship requires students to dedicate a minimum of 25 hours per week. Failure to complete the externship will result in an inability to complete the program.
Culinary Arts Fundamentals, Baking & Pastry Fundamentals, Healthy Baking and Contemporary Dessert Presentation Programs: Gain unlimited access for $49 per month to the following programs and courses.

Applies only for the Certificate in Baking and Pastry Arts Program: The chef mentors evaluate students based on visual assessments. He or she will ask them to take photos of the various stages of prepping, cooking, and plating. Students are given detailed criteria to follow so they know what is required during their cooking assessments and what needs to be shown in their photos. Students are also asked to give a description for each photo they post and a detailed self-assessment of their process. If a student has a certain food allergy or is opposed to tasting that assessment, allowing someone else to taste it is acceptable.

Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts Program:
The Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts program is not self-paced and takes 13 months to complete. This program resembles a more traditional culinary school as students are guided through required weekly assignments and live sessions with their chef instructor. Falling behind or not participating will result in an incomplete and the student having to restart the program.
At this time, the Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy does not participate in Federal Financial Aid Programs, Federal Pell Grant, and Federal Direct Student Loans.
