Are The Programs Accredited?

The diploma programs in Culinary Arts and Operations and Professional Pastry Arts are accredited through ACCET, the Colorado Department of Higher Education and the National Council for State Authorization and Reciprocity Agreements. Learn more about these accreditations.

What Is Received At Program Completion?

Students that graduate from our Culinary Arts and Operations and Professional Pastry Arts programs receive a diploma.

Those who complete the monthly subscription courses do not receive certificates upon completion.

What Are The Academic Requirements?

To become a student at Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy we do not require a SAT or ACT score for our subscription courses. All of our programs are for enthusiasts, careerists and professionals. There is no culinary or pastry experience required upon enrollment. Those with experience are suitable for both programs as well.

Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations:

Students are required to provide proof of graduation in the form of a high school diploma or equivalent in order to enroll.

Diploma in Professional Pastry Arts:

Students are required to provide proof of graduation in the form of a high school diploma or equivalent in order to enroll.

Subscription Courses:

No academic requirements necessary.

Who Tastes The Food I Prepare?

Applies only for the Diploma in Professional Pastry Arts and Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations: One of the most popular questions we receive is, “how are assessments critiqued if a chef instructor is unable to taste the food?” The answer: you will taste your own food. The curriculum is set up to guide our students through the development of their professional palate, the most important tool a chef can have!

If you are opposed to tasting your cooking assessments, friends and family can critique and give you feedback for when you fill out your self-assessment for the assignment.

What Will I Gain From The Programs?

Our programs range from fundamental to professional training programs that teach students the foundational skills and techniques needed to be successful in a professional or home kitchen. Escoffier Online is wonderful for enthusiasts and professionals alike who are looking to learn new skills or enhance their current skill set.

Is Coursework In A Culinary Arts Vocational Program Required For Admission?

No. Approximately 50 percent of our students come from career/vocational school programs and 50 percent come from traditional academic programs. There is no requirement to submit any previous course work, portfolios or any work related to a student’s previous academic or vocational experience for the Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations, Diploma in Professional Pastry Arts or the subscription courses.

Is Work Experience Required?

No. We suggest that you schedule a virtual tour or spend a day shadowing a chef in a restaurant if you have not worked in a professional culinary setting before.

If you don’t have work experience, Escoffier Online helps students build a strong skill set and gain many qualities throughout the program that employers look for when hiring.

The Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations and Diploma in Professional Pastry Arts programs have a Career Services department to assist with job or externship site search in addition to many resources our students find helpful for acquiring employment in the industry.

How Much Time Should I Dedicate?

Subscription Courses:

These courses are self-paced. Upon signing up, you gain all you can eat access to the following programs and courses for as long as you are subscribed.

Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations:

The diploma program in Culinary Arts and Operations is made up of six-week and twelve-week courses over 54 weeks and a six-week externship. Failure to commit this much time will most likely lead to you falling behind and the inability to finish the program.

The mandatory 160 hour externship in the last block that is required for graduation. The externship requires students to dedicate a minimum of 25 hours per week. Failure to complete the externship will result in an inability to complete the program.

Diploma Program in Professional Pastry Arts:

The Diploma Program in Professional Pastry Arts is made up of six-week and twelve week courses organized into four twelve-week terms (48 weeks) and a six-week externship. Failure to commit this much time will most likely lead to you falling behind and the inability to finish the program.

The mandatory 150 hour externship in the last block that is required for graduation. The externship requires students to dedicate a minimum of 25 hours per week. Failure to complete the externship will result in an inability to complete the program.

How Are My Skills Evaluated?

Applies only for the Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations and Diploma in Professional Pastry Arts programs: The chef educators evaluate students based on visual assessments. He or she will ask them to take photos of the various stages of preparation, cooking, and plating. Students are given detailed criteria to follow so they know what is required during their cooking assessments and what needs to be shown in their photos. Students are also asked to give a description for each photo they post and a detailed self-assessment of their process. If a student has a certain food allergy or is opposed to tasting that assessment, allowing someone else to taste it is acceptable.

What Are The Lengths Of The Programs?

Subscription Courses:

All you can eat access to the following programs and courses as long as the monthly subscription payments are up to date.

Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations:

The diploma program in Culinary Arts and Operations takes 15 months to complete (includes industry externship). This program resembles a more traditional culinary school as students are guided through required weekly assignments and live sessions with their chef instructor. Falling behind or not participating will result in an incomplete and the student having to restart the program.

Diploma in Professional Pastry Arts:

The diploma program in Professional Pastry Arts takes 13 months to complete (includes industry externship). This program resembles a more traditional culinary school as students are guided through required weekly assignments and live sessions with their chef instructor. Falling behind or not participating will result in an incomplete and the student having to restart the program.

Is Financial Aid Offered?

Applies only for the Certificate in Diploma in Culinary Arts and Operations and Diploma in Professional Pastry Arts programs:
