Take Your Quesadillas to The Next Level

Quesadillas will always be loved for their insides of melty cheese and mouthwatering chicken, steak or veggies. This delicious meal isn’t only tasty – it’s extremely simple to make! But it turns out, there is so much more you can fill your tortilla with. In fact, if you really wanted to, you could transform this Mexican dish to make it appropriate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Try out any of these out-of-the-box and tremendously tasty quesadilla options:

Breakfast
If you’re sick of your typical breakfast of cereal and toast, switch things up by enjoying any of these quesadillas that will satisfy your taste buds and give you energy to take on your day:

Peanut butter-banana quesadilla
It’s important to get some protein in your system in the morning to help keep you full until lunch and give your body some necessary energy. Spread some peanut butter across a whole wheat tortilla – stay away from the reduced fat peanut butter, however, because it actually contains more sugar than regular peanut butter. Slice some fresh bananas over the peanut butter and sprinkle a few chocolate chips over top. Fold the tortilla in half and brown on the stove until you get a golden crust on your quesadilla. This will melt the chocolate chips for the perfect touch of sweetness to your breakfast.

Blueberry breakfast quesadilla
Warm up a nonstick skillet over the stove while you get your quesadilla prepared. Smear some cream cheese spread over half of your tortilla. You can even opt for a flavored cream cheese to take the flavor up a notch. Then top your cream cheese with an even layer of 1/2 cup frozen blueberries. Fold your tortilla in half and brown for two minutes a side on the stove until the bread crisps.

Lunch
Get creative with your lunch by trying out any of these simple quesadilla recipes:

Turkey and cranberry quesadillas
Top half of a tortilla with 1/2 cup cheese of your choice, then follow that with 1/4 pound cooked and shredded turkey, a bit of cranberry sauce, some sliced jalapeno, green onion and cilantro. Cook until the cheese melts and the tortilla gets that perfect golden brown crust. Then, enjoy this combination of sweet, spicy and savory!

Dinner
When you get home after a long day and are looking for a tasty dinner that doesn’t take an entire evening to whip up, lean on this delicious quesadilla variation:

Greek quesadilla
Go Greek with your quesadilla by topping half with fresh spinach, red onion, red peppers, black olives, shredded Mozzarella cheese, feta cheese, dried oregano and some red pepper flakes for some spice. Brown each side of the tortilla for two minutes, cut into wedges and dig in. Enroll in cooking school online to see the different types of quesadillas you can create!
