Meet Your Mentor – Chef Melissa

With our culinary and pastry programs being 100% online we think it is important for you to learn about our chefs. Escoffier Online wants you to meet, Chef Melissa Ritter.

Melissa Ritter brings 15 years’ experience in the food service industry, an extensive background in business and management consulting, and a desire to cultivate healthy eating habits through culinary knowledge. She founded and for eight years ran the Farm to Table program at the Prairie Crossing Charter School. She has consulted with school districts to bring healthy, scratch cooking to their operations. She has worked in fine dining, catering, as a personal chef to an all-pro Chicago Bear, and as a culinary instructor and program developer. She won state and national recognition for the Farm to Table program, and was awarded a sustainable foods internship by Women Chefs and Restaurateurs. She has been a regular contributor to, a weekly podcast, discussing green, sustainable and local food topics. Melissa has a B.A. in Economics from Oberlin College and extensive coursework in business, nutrition, and food service.
