March Is National Nutrition Month

Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month? Now is the perfect time to put what you’ve learned in your online cooking courses to work by joining the American Dietetic Association (ADA) in promoting education and healthy eating. For 2013, the ADA is seeking to encourage a nutritious diet with a theme of “Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day.” This shows people that making good food choices can work within their personal taste preferences or budget. Whether or not they’ve taken a culinary class online, healthy eating is accessible to everyone.

To help you participate in National Nutrition Month, Time magazine looked to nutrition experts for advice and inspiration.

“Focusing on foods in their whole, natural forms and making it the norm to cook simply with seasonal ingredients is the best way to stop battling your plate,” Jess Kolko, registered dietitian for Whole Foods Market, told the source. “Make friends with whole, minimally processed food like fruits and veggies, whole grains, beans and legumes and the rest will take care of itself.”

When you understand the right foods for a nutritious diet, you will be able to incorporate them in surprising new ways.
