Australian Pastry Chefs Placed 7th At The Pastry World Cup

Escoffier Online Proud Sponsors of Australia’s Top 7 World Pastry Champions

Congratulations to a team of Australian pastry chefs who placed 7th at the Pastry World Cup this year over a two-day event on January 27th and 28th in Lyon, France! Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy, a Gold Sponsor of the Australian Team, is proud of their outstanding placement and accomplishment for being the first time in six years to compete at the world level. Team Australia won the Asian Pastry Cup in 2012, earning them the position at this year’s Pastry World Cup. Months of preparation and practice went into the comings of this event. The competition consisted of the creation of three frozen desserts, three chocolate desserts, twelve plated desserts, and three showpiece artistic creations in just ten hours. The artistic creations included chocolate entremets that placed 3rd, an iced showpiece that placed 6th and a sugar piece, which achieved a very high score. With this team’s amazing talent, dedication, and outstanding showpieces, Team Australia placed 7th in the world, out of 22 competing countries.

Team Coach, Dean Gibson response to this success was, “Australia is now recognized internationally in patisserie as competitive at the highest level in the world. As a member of the international jury, we were good enough, in my humble opinion, to take 4th position; the skills shown were definitely top four. More importantly, the success of this team now brings back to Australia some of the world’s best artistic sugar, chocolate and ice skills. The team will now endeavor to promote this for the benefit of future teams.”

Team Pastry Australia automatically qualifies for the next Pastry World Cup in 2015. We wish you great success and best of luck on your future accomplishments!
