3 Must-Watch Cooking Shows For Summer

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are that as a student in online cooking programs you are a fan of at least one competitive reality cooking show on TV. They are hard to avoid these days. With the foodie culture seeping into the fabric of American dining, nearly every major network has at least one competition show to get hooked on.

Not only are these programs fun to watch, they could be an excellent source of inspiration for your creative journey in the culinary academy. Thankfully, there are three great shows on the air this summer for you to enjoy!

“The American Baking Competition”
If you have a sweet tooth or are looking to become a successful chef in the baking & pastry arts, this new reality baking show on CBS could be just the ticket. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy has been chosen as the show’s host, so you know that you will be laughing while you learn more about your craft. The program features 10 competitors who are fighting for a contract with Simon & Schuster – a well-known book publisher – to make their very own cookbooks. The winner of the contest will also receive a $250,000 prize, which isn’t too shabby either. To top it all off, Food Network star Marcela Valladolid and Paul Hollywood are the show’s judges – proving that this will be some fine entertainment all around.

“MasterChef”
Chances are you have watched this fun and intense show before, since it is now in its fourth season on FOX. Whereas some cooking competitions feature nice, informative judges, this is certainly not the case with “MasterChef.” All three of the show’s judges – Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot – may have unbeatable palates that would make any cooking student nervous, but they also have infamous tempers. If you have a flair for the dramatic and still want to see some truly well-crafted dishes, don’t miss this successful program.

“The Next Food Network Star”
This highly successful show is now in its ninth season, showing that Americans are indeed interested in amazing cuisine. Food Network superstars Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay are returning this season as the show’s judges and mentors. Last time, Brown took all, so tune in to see if he is victorious again this season. Winners of this contest get their very own show on Food Network – which is a dream of many students in international cooking schools.
